Job brief
We are looking for a strong, dynamic and experienced Corporate Controller in the manufacturing industry to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and will work closely with the senior management team, the sales team, and the operations team. The ideal candidate is innovative and experienced in implementing best practices, and has the ability to think strategically while maintaining accuracy at the detail level.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting and finance operations including functional responsibility over General Accounting, Payroll, Invoicing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
- Prepare Quarterly Board Presentations
- Manage Monthly Inventory counts and valuations and roll forward of inventory activity
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory and tax reporting
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Lead month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Manage annual external audit and periodic bank audit processes.
- Manage weekly and monthly borrowing base reports to lenders
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and better serve internal and external constituencies
- Leads in the development/implementation of new and/or revised accounting, data collection or reporting procedures, identifying, developing and implementing methods for improving reporting efficiency and in coordinating/executing accounting related special projects that require an in-depth knowledge of the linkages between systems, operations and processes
- Streamline processes using technology and best practices
- Supervises a team of eight accounting staff members
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a Controller or an Assistant Controller preferably in process/flow manufacturing environment
- 15+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- 10+ years in manufacturing and cost accounting
- BS in accounting or finance required and a Masters Degree in Accounting or MBA is preferred
- CPA preferred
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements and reports
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
- Experience with ERP systems and willingness and desire to become super user for company’s LabelTraxx system.
- IT knowledge helpful
- MS Office proficient
- Printing/Packaging industry experience desired, but not required
- Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data and analysis, including presentations to senior management, board or outside partners
- Experience working for Private Equity owned companies and/or reporting to multiple ownership groups/debt lenders a plus
