Expert IT Leader Seeks New Opportunity

Senior Level Management Experience: Participated on IT Executive Team that created the vision and strategy for:
o A $25 billion revenue based Property Casualty company;
o A $24 billion revenue based Aerospace & Defense company;
o A $6 billion million revenue based software and e-Commerce company;
o And a $200 million online brokerage business. 

Significant Solution Delivery Experience (Ecommerce, Front Office, BackOffice): Led the transformation of major front office and backoffice systems along with eCommerce sites (Travelers, JP Morgan & Symantec) to align and support enterprise integration and business model transformation. This required partnering with business executives to craft the vision/goals of the why the transformation that enabled the execution of transitioning the underlying capabilities and technologies that supported both the enterprise alignment along with local business alignment. The functional areas included marketing, HR, finance, supply chain, trading, account management, call centers, and manufacturing.

Business Partner Relations: Building close relationships with the business partners to understand their needs and wishes; communicating the long term enterprise wide Technology Strategy by translating “computerize” to business leaders. At JP Morgan Invest this resulted with a hybrid architecture leveraging a legacy mainframe operation and layering a modular Sun Java based architecture on top. The benefit was an $8 million new website with reusable services and a cost effective plan to convert the mainframe functionality to the more cost effective Java based over the succeeding 24 months.

Global Management Experience: Managed the Operations, Engineering, and Application teams that number in excess of 200 professionals (FTE and consultants). At Travelers, we managed both business model transformation from a domestic based to an international model that leveraged shared business assets and infrastructure services. While at Raytheon we managed business transformation to a shared services model from domestic to global. JP Morgan Invest had two distributed data centers that were geographically diverse in the United States along with operation centers in Massachusetts, Florida, New York, and Kansas that required engineering and operational support. All of JPMI architecture was compliant with JPMC’s global IT requirements. 

Strategy & Enterprise Architecture Expert: Led the transformation of three companies from a level 1 maturity to a level 4 maturity across key enterprise architecture processes: strategic technology planning, technology standards governance, and architecture assurance (project architecture governance). The companies varied in their operating model of centralized, federated, and siloed. Also certified in TOGAF and FEAF architecture frameworks.

Technical Leadership: Contributing new technology information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing of new technology objectives in line with organization objectives; articulating business advantages of technology development. I’ve proven my ability to support an organization mission and strategies by developing and driving technology strategies, architectures, and policies. Led the Dreyfus acquisition/conversion and recommended what to build out (i.e. multiple order entry and single sign-on) and what to leave out. The programs combined the two businesses onto our existing platform. Conversion completed in 5 months flawlessly without a single “out of balance” condition.

Large Scale Projects: Providing technical management across multiple projects simultaneously that ranged from $1 million through $500 million which included enterprise outsourcing of key IT capabilities, enterprise data warehousing, automation of account management, along with building out a new platform and retail websites. 

Technical Breadth: Over that past 20 years I have had experience with most types of technologies from big iron mainframe to Sun Solaris enterprise servers to Microsoft Windows platform. Experienced also with cloud technologies (internal and external hosting) – Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Application as a Service. I was responsible for the architectures for mobility, telecommunications, network, enterprise data, application, and security. Development experience consists of client server, e-commerce, distributed open systems, and COBOL. Extensive experience integrating multiple types of customer platforms via Message Oriented Middleware, Transaction sub-systems, TCP/IP, and Web Services.

Culture Transformer: Throughout my career, my ambition and ability to motivate others have allowed me to recruit and develop diverse, high-performance teams while managing budgets and resources for bottom-line results. My passion, dedication, and “lead by example” instill the appropriate bar setting, standards, and expectations for the organization. Transformed Raytheon from a business silo based architecture and standards approach to one of a federated governed entity. Under my direction, the development team at JPMC was the most diverse within the organization as a whole which, in my view, contributed significantly to our success.

Program Management: I have instituted change control programs, project life cycles, along with deployment processes. I have been trained and applied Six Sigma to all initiatives at Travelers, Raytheon and JPMI.
